I’m sure you have heard the radio commercials that speak to the fears of investors – especially those who lost money during the financial crisis in 2008/2009. Of course, the only ones who lost were the ones who got overly emotional and sold out. Phil Cannella is a marketing master as is pointed out in the Philadelphia Inquirer article published on March 5th. Only an insurance agent could say the things that he does and get away with it. “risk free”, “no fee”, “crash proof” – it’s hard to believe anyone could really fall for such sales tactics. How does this happen? Because insurance/annuity sales people are not subject to the same rules as we are! Suitability is a very different standard than having to work in the best interests of the client – a fiduciary!
Please read the article and the next time Phil Cannella, or one of the annuity sales people who roam your halls, try to sell you an annuity, RUN!
